Quem é Simmons?
Randy Simmons is the head of the Political Science Department, and director of the Institute of Political Economy, at Utah State University.
Dr. Simmons has authored several articles on government behavior such as "Politics and the New Resource Economics," Contemporary Policy Issues; "Public Choice and the Judiciary," BYU Law Review; and "Organizing Groups of Collective Action," American Political Science Review. He is also the coauthor of Beyond Politics: Markets, Welfare, and the Failure of Bureaucracy, a primer on the economics of government.
Dr. Simmons specializes in applying the assumptions and methods of economic reasoning to policy issues, especially those on the environment and natural resources. Currently his research includes studying market mechanisms for preserving endangered species. Dr. Simmons has been an analyst in the Office of Policy Analysis at the U.S. Department of the Interior, and is currently a member of the Providence City Council, Utah.
Dr. Simmons received his Ph.D. and M.A. in political science from the University of Oregon, and his B.A. in political science from Utah State University.
